Many people think that a winter ghillie suit and a snow ghillie suit are the same. But the truth is they are two completely different types of ghillie suits.
Both suits are made for snowy terrain. However, one suit is probably better suited for most winter months. When we talk about a winter suit, we are talking about the color pattern of the suit. The insulation and warmth of the suit does not come into play.
A winter ghillie suit is best suited for partially snowy terrain. It is predominately white with speckles or patches of brown or black to simulate brush or wood.

A snow ghillie suit is completely white and is used in terrain that is completely covered in snow. In this terrain, any dark spots would be a dead giveaway. A snow ghillie suit can be used in partially snowy terrain, but a winter ghillie suit cannot be used in completely white conditions.
When most people want a white ghillie suit for the winter snow they just assume that the best ghillie suit should be all white. However, a white suit with brown patches will probably work better.
